This Privacy Policy explains how Markus Haudum, the developer of Driftworn (“we”, “us”), handles information in connection with the game Driftworn: Starship Roguelite (“Driftworn” or “the game”) and this website, driftworn.com.

2. Information stored on your device

Driftworn stores what it needs to run on your device: your save game and voyage progress, recovered and unlocked signals, achievement progress, settings, ship names and other in-game choices.

We do not run a server that receives your save games, settings or gameplay data.

3. Google Play Games Services

When Google Play Games is available and you are signed in, Driftworn:

• gets your Google Play Games player identifier and keeps it on your device to match your progress to your player;
• submits achievement progress;
• submits leaderboard scores for your highest voyage score and your furthest galaxy;
• sends game statistics, such as the furthest galaxy reached, ships destroyed, fuel collected and voyages lost, which Google Play Games can show you as stats;
• keeps a copy of your signal progress in your Google Play Games saved games (which signals you have recovered and claimed, the furthest galaxy a voyage recovered signals from and the ships you have earned), so it can be restored on another device. Purchases are never stored there; Google Play restores those;
• opens Google’s own achievement and leaderboard screens.

Leaderboard entries can be visible to other players, depending on your Google Play Games profile settings.

Google Play Games Services and Google Play services may also process information such as account details, your gamer profile, IP address, device information, game activity and diagnostics to provide and protect their services. 4. Purchases

Premium story signals and the Season 1 Signal Pass are sold through Google Play Billing. Google Play handles the payment; we never see your payment details. The game receives confirmation of what you bought from Google Play (such as the product, the purchase state and a purchase token) and uses it on your device to unlock that content. Google Play’s terms and privacy policy apply to purchases.

5. Ratings

After a big win, Driftworn may show Google Play’s in-app review card. Whether and when it appears is up to Google Play, and any rating or review you leave goes to Google Play, not to us.

6. No ads, no analytics

Driftworn contains no advertising SDKs and does not use the Android advertising ID. It includes no Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics or other analytics service of ours. We do not sell personal data and do not use game data for targeted advertising or profiling.

Google may give developers aggregated statistics and crash reports through the Google Play Console under Google’s own privacy practices.

7. This website

This website is a set of static pages with one shared counter. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads its fonts from its own server.

• Hosting. The site is delivered by our hosting provider through Cloudflare. To deliver the pages and protect them against abuse, they process technical connection data such as your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and your browser’s user agent, and may keep it in server logs for a short time.
• The ship counter. When you destroy ships on the “Know your enemy” range, your browser sends the number of ships to our server, which adds it to one total shared by all visitors and shows it on the page. Only that total is stored; nothing about you is kept with it.
• The trailer. The video is embedded from YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited, in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. When you do, your browser connects to YouTube, which can set cookies and process your IP address and viewing data under the Google Privacy Policy. The “Watch on YouTube” link opens YouTube itself.

8. Why we process information

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, game data on your device and the Google Play features you use are processed to provide the game you asked for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Website connection data is processed to deliver and secure the website, our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). The trailer loads from YouTube only after you choose to play it, which is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).

9. Sharing

We do not share your game data with advertisers or data brokers. What Google Play Games, purchases and reviews need goes to Google as described above. Website connection data is processed by our hosting provider and Cloudflare to deliver the site.

10. How long data is kept, and deleting it

Game data stays on your device until it is overwritten, you clear the app’s data or you uninstall the game. Depending on your Android backup settings, Android may back up and later restore eligible app data.

Achievements, leaderboard scores, game stats and saved games are kept by Google according to your Google account and Google Play Games settings, where you can also delete them. Purchase records are kept by Google Play.

11. Children

Driftworn is made for players aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13.

12. Security

Keeping game data on your device keeps the amount of data that leaves it small. Connections to Google Play services and to this website are encrypted. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

13. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing and to data portability. For data held by Google, use Google’s privacy and deletion controls. For anything we handle, write to [email protected]. You can also complain to a data protection authority; in Austria that is the Datenschutzbehörde.

14. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the game, this website or the way they handle data changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
